THE REMAINS OF THE ROMAN VILLA

The Villa Romana, was used by the rich Romans to spend periods of tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Roman Maritime Villa has an area of about 7,000 square meters and traced back to III century BC. Most likely, Villa belong ad to Semproni’ family and was built neat the coast Lucano-Tyrrhenian, after the second Punic War. The sea level those times was about 1.80 meters lower; Romans also created a small cove that into the sea.
